They are in new location now, across street from old derelict Promenade place. Still warm, friendly place with abundant food. Delicious.

Awesome Ethiopian spot in CD
Sarah and I had been to a few Ethiopian places in the past 3 months and this was definitely one of the best ones of them all. It looks super small from the outside but the inside is roomy and there's plenty of seating. The service is really good and the ambience is typical of an Ethiopian restaurant in CD; homely with a TV playing Ethiopian music or news in the background. This certainly sets a tone of comfort and I really appreciate this!
The food was great! We got doro wot (chicken stewed in red sauce) and misser wot (red lentils) and it did not disappoint. Sarah got the tea and she really enjoyed it
Overall, another great spot in Seattle for some good Ethiopian food. We will try the veggie combo which is the true test of good Ethiopian restaurant. Until then , it's a 5 star from me! :) -

Based on everyone's reviews I feel like the odd-man out, but my experience was just meh. I did get take out, rather than eating in, but I found the veggie platter to be really overcooked and bland. I did really like the gomen (spinach) and the atakilt (cabbage), but everything else was really under-spiced and overcooked/ dried out. I might have just come at a weird time or maybe it doesn't travel well (15 min), but I think that Wonder's veggie combo is a lot more flavorful.

We went to Chef Cafe on a recent Friday night and settled into its large back room, where the lighting is just right and the atmosphere is invariably kind. Two of us ordered the vegetarian sambusa appetizer and the vegetarian platter to share, and all we can say is this proved to be beyond compare the finest Ethiopian food we have tasted in Seattle. And we've now been to maybe 10-12 Ethiopian restaurants. Thank you so much Chef Cafe! We will be back. Again and again.

Food is excellent - prices are low - service is super kind. I usually split a veggie platter and add a meat dish to it, for a full sampling of many flavors, and walk out of there for about 20 bucks total, completely stuffed.
